Privacy and sign-in

What we use, what we keep, and what stays on your own device.

The short version

Mantrasaar is a small, personal website about mantras. You can read the mantra pages and listen to the recordings without signing in. A few tools (the 108-bead counter, the Peacock Garden and the Temple Finder) need you to sign in with your Google (Gmail) account. We use that only to know you are a real person and to protect the site from misuse. We do not sell or share your information.

Signing in with Google

  • When you press the Google button, Google confirms your identity. Our server then checks that confirmation with Google. During that check Google tells us your first name and email address.
  • We do not store your email address or your full name. We keep only a small sign-in cookie in your own browser, which holds your first name and an anonymous number made from your Google account. It lasts 30 days, or until you press Sign out.
  • We never post anything for you and we never read your email or contacts. We ask for no permissions beyond basic sign-in.

Other things we handle

  • Temple Finder: the state, city and faith you choose are sent to Google Maps to get the list of temples, and Google sends back ratings and photos. We do not save your searches. We count how many searches each signed-in person makes in a day, using the anonymous number, to keep costs under control.
  • Email updates: if you subscribe on the home page, your email address is saved in a private file and used only to send occasional mantra updates. You can ask to be removed at any time.
  • On your own device: your text size, calm mode, high contrast choice, mantra counter, garden progress and your lists of temples you have visited or want to visit are kept in your browser. They are not sent to us.
  • Fonts and security: the page loads fonts from Google Fonts. The website is hosted by Hostinger.

Cookies

We use one cookie of our own, the sign-in cookie described above, and only if you sign in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Google may set its own cookies when you use Google Sign-In or view Google content.

Your choices

  • Press Sign out in the top bar at any time. You can also clear this site's cookies and data in your browser.
  • You can remove the Mantrasaar permission from your Google account settings at any time.
  • To ask us about your information or to be removed from the email updates, write to peacockfeatherchants [at] gmail [dot] com.
