find a temple
Temple Finder
Choose a country and a city, in India or anywhere in the world, to see Hindu, Jain and Buddhist temples ranked by Google ratings. Mark the ones you have visited or would like to visit.
Find temples
Place data and photos from Google Maps. Pictures of some well-known temples come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences, with credits shown. Ratings are the opinions of Google users and can change. Please check opening times before you travel.
How it works
- Choose a country. For India, also choose a state. Then choose a city or town. If yours is not in the list, choose "Another city" and type it.
- Choose Hindu, Jain or Buddhist temples, or all three.
- Press Find temples. We ask Google Maps for temples there and show them with their star ratings and review counts.
- Use Mark as visited and Want to visit to keep your own list. These are saved only on your device.
Frequently asked questions
Where do the ratings come from?
From Google Maps. Every search asks Google for the latest information, and Mantrasaar does not keep a copy of the ratings.
How is the order decided?
The default order blends the star rating with the number of reviews, so a temple with 2 five-star reviews does not outrank one with hundreds of 4.6-star reviews. You can also sort by highest star rating or by most reviews.
Does it work outside India?
Yes. Choose another country, then a city. Temples abroad are found the same way, through Google Maps, so the quality of results depends on what Google has listed for that city.
Why do I see only up to 20 temples?
Google returns up to 20 places for each search. Try a nearby city, another spelling of the city, or a different faith to see more.
Why is a temple I know missing?
It may not be listed on Google Maps, may be listed under another category, or may be found under a nearby town. Jain temples are matched by words in their names, so a few may be missed.
Is the ranking a recommendation?
No. It reflects what Google users have said publicly. Please check opening times, dress rules and local customs before you travel, and follow the guidance of each temple.
Is the Temple Finder free, and what about my privacy?
It is free to use. The state, city and faith you choose are sent to Google to get the list, and Mantrasaar does not save your searches. The temples you mark as visited or wish-list stay only on your own device.
